Hi friends, so I'm 22 and I have a few mental illnesses (panic disorder, dissociation due to PTSD and depressive disorder (all diagnosed between 2013-2016)). I'm currently in a partial hospitalization program for my depression, and the psychiatrist at the program thinks I should taking Lexapro and Wellbutrin again. I'm amenable to the idea, but the last time I was on medication for mental health reasons, I was in my early to mid teens. I had been on citalopram from ages 13-16 and I experienced awful side effects and my depression got worse while I was on it. After I was taken off of it, I started Lexapro with Wellbutrin (was on it from ages 16 to 17--I stopped when I graduated highschool without supervision (not healthy, I know)) and it was fine I had no side effects or anything, but since it was so long ago, I struggle to remember if it was actually effective in decreasing my depressive symptoms. Does anyone who is on Lexapro have any thoughts? Has Lexapro worked for you? TL;DR my psych wants me to go back on Lexapro and Wellbutrin and while I'm on board with it, I just wanted to see how other adults on Lexapro feel on it. Thanks!

I realize this is super late, but I highly recommend genesight testing. My brother really struggled finding meds for his depression/anxiety that didn’t make him worse. Ended up hospitalized for two weeks. They did this testing and we’re able to figure out which drugs would react poorly and which ones could possibly work. Lexapro works great for me but gave him terrible side effects. The first drug they tried after the testing worked!

@Tomato thank you so much for the insight I really appreciate you responding! I restart it officially on Wednesday so fingers crossed that everything goes well haha.
Yes, lexapro worked pretty well for my panic. I had some side effects like weight gain and sweating, but I prefer these over my status before using the drug. I think there’s no way to know how your body will react to the drug again. You were a teenager then, so you were also hormonal regardless of the drugs
