Hello! Just joined. I've often felt alone with cPTSD, specifically with the horrible psychotic symptoms I have from it. Does anyone else experience psychotic symptoms with cPTSD?

Yes!! I find it strange we've had very opposite experiences so far though! TW.... .... ... ... .. .. . . When the abuse was happening as a kid, I'd hallucinate this little girl made out of what seemed to be pure light to me. She'd slip into my body to take whatever was happening at the time, because somehow I understood it wouldn't hurt her like it would me. She didn't seem human in that way, but made out of just.. pure love or something. I perceived her as my guardian angel of sorts. I still will see her when I'm under some type of duress, though sometimes it can be for something as little as the anxiety of being around others. I've begun to link her with my absence seizures, though obviously I wouldn't know it for years. It took others reporting to me when I would go into a petit Mal and my recollection of seeing her out of nowhere to realize this though. I think, after 40 years of trying to figure it out, "she" is some broken off piece of my psyche or something? I suppose? I'm so sorry yours seem distressing to you, though I can appreciate you finding an expression of art to work through it.

I get nightmares, paranoia & dissociations & everything else…. Just not hallucinations.. can you elaborate what type they are??

@Dragonrollz I don't want to be too triggering. But mostly shadowmen where I can only see the eyes. My psych said it sounded connected to trauma and wasn't another diagnosis.

@BlackheartEros that definitely can happen! Trauma can do crazy things to your mind but has anything helped so far when you hallucinate?

my therapist says that a lot of symptoms from chronic PTSD can easily be interpreted as psychotic- hallucinations, delusions, absurd behaviors, severe isolation, self injury etc etc. the hopeful part is that trauma can be healed (not all the way obviously, it'll always be there) and the symptoms can get a little easier to cope with.

@lionsden definitely. I suppose I just feel alone because I don't know anyone who experiences psychotic symptoms with it, and it would help to have someone else to talk to who has things like that, hallucinations, nightmares, paranoia, dissociation, and stuff like that.
