Have you tried iron supplements for CFS? Did they help? What was your ferritin level prior to taking them?

I take magnesium and a multivitamin, I like prenatals the most. Drs have me on loritab and just started Ritalin for energy but was taking Kratom for a few months. I recommend ur medical marijuana card and use flower at night. The Kratom seriously helped me w energy. Gotta watch how much u take tho, if 2 much u can crash more often. I tried D, D-ribose and a good B12 from my Health food store and they didn't do anything for me. All my vitamin levels are perfect.

I am on iron and my ferritin level are fine, however my RBC count is still low. Taking iron has helped with some of the fatigue but I am still very exhausted

Are you on any steroid medications? My cortisol levels were really low from being in one. If not it still might be worth getting your cortisol levels checked! I know it’s not a supplement but I love telling everyone with CFS to get it checked! But to your original question, I had low iron too and I’m on supplants for it. I noticed a slight difference but nothing major, but anything to chip away I guess!

I tried standard iron in the 65mg dose and it always drove my ferritin levels through the rough and made me feel sick. About a month ago I started trying a prenatal iron supplement because it’s in a lower dosage and is designed to be easy on the digestive tract. I have noticed a little less “fogginess” and have felt noticeably better since starting it. It definitely didn’t resolve any issues but it brought some much appreciated relief. I alternate between 16.5mg and 33mg every day and it has been helpful so far. I’m going to the doctor next week to see how it has effected my ferritin levels.

@chronicallyfab thanks you for that info! Do you remember what your starting ferritin was? That is my number that is lower and I've read how that can cause a lot of symptoms

I take iron but it's because I donate blood. I don't notice a difference. I would say though if your considering it, give it a try. If it doesn't help at least you can rule it out. I have tried a few different vitamins. Some help and some don't.

Never been tested for iron but I found out I was low on vitamin D and that helped a bit with supplements, though I’m still tired most of the time I’m more alert than I was
