I feel this way a lot too! I try to keep myself grounded by playing with fidget toys and using peppermint essential oil around my nostrils.

I think it is my mind/bodys way of trying to protect itself from feelings that are too intense or in times when Stress is high, I tend to either disassociate or have a panic/anxiety attack

Derealization it is a scary feeling when you doubt reality, I described it as feeling like I’m in a dream or feeling numb and disconnected

@dailydose It has also changed my experience of time drastically when I’m in a disassociative state… and yeah the depersonalization has happened too where I look in a mirror and can’t recognize myself or feel connected to my body

I disassociated so much in my youth that I don't remember whole chunks of my childhood. It's like a handful of steps beyond daydreaming...

I disassociate a lot. My partner has realized when I do it and will bring me back to earth. When it happens at work, my manager can pretty well tell now

just know it will pass eventually and doesn’t last forever at all, it’s actually impossible to

also do not google it. it will not help.

it’s a symptom of prolonged very high anxiety. derealization/depersonalization. it alleviates itself as anxiety is alleviated. but, it can come back if you’re feeling bad anxiety or having a panic attack and last for a while until it slowly fades. at least my experience with it.
