How did you get a formal diagnosis?

my psychiatrist noticed i haven’t responded well to any of my medications to manage distressing symptoms and pieced together that maybe it’s not bipolar, anxiety, RSD, etc and it’s just, autism. and she then asked me about my childhood before saying she thinks i’m on the spectrum and she’s been crossing off boxes in the diagnostic critera the whole meeting
