How can you explain or try to make someone understand that you're in constant pain and not being lazy?

It can also help to have a jar of spoons or other object and use it as a visual for those around you so you don’t have to always say where you’re at. They can look and see how many spoons are in the jar and know if you’re almost out or can do certain things at that time.

@Doglover25006 that’s such a good idea I might steal that!!!

If it’s really important for them to understand, I like to explain the spoon theory! But I’m general if someone thinks your pain mens you’re lazy it’s hard to get them to see another perspective and it’s not worth your time. But if they want to understand the spoon theory for sure!!!

@Belugabear Hi Belugabear! I'm super curious; what is the spoon theory? 😊

@Raelynne I’m so glad you asked! I’ll add the link to the original article explaining it as well. Basically, depending on how you start your day you have a certain number of spoons. More on good days, less on bad days. Every activity you do, whether it’s getting dressed, showering, cooking, cleaning, anything really, costs spoons. You can borrow from tomorrow, but then you have less the next day (and you feel worse) or save some up and hopefully feel better and get more done. But usually, you are limited by the spoons of the day. https://butyoudontlooksick.com/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory/
