I just got some sudden news at work and it's completely derailing me. I can't seem to focus on anything other than this new information and it's eating away at me. I spent about 15 minutes free writing my thoughts to try and get them out of my brain but that didn't seem to help. do you guys have any other suggestions?

Hey Rosie, what helps me is to focus on something else that would require all of my attention (bigger, elsewhere), so I need to have my entire brain engaging in this subject and forget about my thoughts
I would suggest doing something while you work. I used to silently count as I worked. Or, do something creative.
