Two things for me. I love music so cleaning is an excuse for me to blast my music in the house. Secondly, this is advice I got from a therapist. Set a timer for 20 minutes and clean as much as you can. As soon as that timer stops, you stop. Even if you still have to wipe down the table or you were in the middle of dusting, stop and leave it for tomorrow and repeat. It makes you do your responsibilities, but it also doesn’t allow you to spend hours and hours cleaning and exhausting yourself when you may already be mentally drained. I personally have a problem where I either don’t clean or I clean for hours and hours without stopping even when I need to. I guess think of it maybe like working out, the timer is like the goal for the amount of times you have to lift a weight. You really want to get to your goal in weights because you set yourself up a goal and you want to accomplish it and feel good. Think of that timer the same way. Your timer can be 10, 15, 20 minutes or even 30 minutes if you want! Trying to get to that goal will feel amazing and will feel rewarding! I really hope this helps! I hope this helps!

I tell myself I only need to clean for 5 minutes twice a day. If after those 5 minutes I want to keep going, then I do and that's great. If I stop, that's 10 minutes worth of cleaning done each day. Knowing I can stop after only 5 minutes makes it feel more manageable most of the time. Also, I use a Bullet Journal which helps me keep myself accountable in a fun way. If you've never heard of bullet journaling, a Google Search should explain it better than I can because it is complicated to explain. But it lets me be creative and use art to keep me interested in keeping up with it.

Do a little each day. A little. Start making a routine, set alarms for start and end times and just do what you can. Then take breaks. And repeat with something else when you can. Most days I don’t need my alarms now, I’m able to do a load of dishes, laundry, pick up some stuff. Vacuuming for me is hard because it’s more physical, but I can typically do it once a week. I’ve also started making sure I’m doing things I enjoy like Paint & read, in between resting, but I don’t count those as rest. Trying to find a balance of self care and doing obligated things can be tough with a lot going on. Not worth a try! And you also have to be ok with scrapping the whole plan if your body and mind just can’t work that way today.

Maybe try listening to music while you clean, putting on a recorded stream or listening to a podcast even? I'll cook and do dishes while an episode of captain sparkles MCEternal is playing on my Laptop or an episode of Distractible
