How does one go about finding a Rheumatologist when you are uninsured? I barely make enough money to get by so it’s overwhelming thinking about how to get the treatment I need when it could leave me destitute

I'm in the same boat and to be honest when I did have insurance I still ended up with a $3000 bill I couldn't pay that went to collections. I just try to avoid over doing it, take vitamins and supplements, and Prednisone from an online doctor when I can get it but nobody wants to give it to me long term. I've been having great luck with supplements. I take turmeric and ginger along with vitamins, calcium, and lots of D3. I just was reading many have great luck with Thunder God Vine so I got that coming too. I'll try about anything. Edibles never helped, just made me always tired. I can't smoke pot, it gives me anxiety. I am interested in Delta 8 if anyone knows anything. It's supposed to have low psycho effects

The truth is there is nothing to cure RA so to me you would just be saving yourself from taking toxic medication just eat lots of fruits &vegetables like the Mediterranean diet & you'll be better off

@Natacha Oh some cases of RA are way too severe for that to be the only method of treatment

@Natacha I take them for relief there is no cure but not laid up in a bed saying it hurts and I can't do things because of my meds

I had this problem before and I just couldn't get treatment for some time. 😥

Some doctors/clinics will take uninsured patients and have a sliding scale. I had that in college and the doctor gave me free medicine samples to reduce my cost even more. It’s worth calling around. Do you know if you are eligible for Medicaid?

@AlohaTricia unfortunately I’m not eligible 😥 but I’ll definitely call around and see what’s available in my area

I have been there and am still kind of. Though I have insurance I am just scraping by. Be honest with the doc about your situation and they may be willing to work out a payment plan. Also many drug companies that make RA meds have patient assistance programs and can arrange to send the meds for free or at the very least, a very small co-pay
