I meant to say you are “not” receiving competent medical care. “Not both.” I can’t imagine only being prescribed steroids and having an unresponsive rheumatologist. That’s so hard and is unacceptable. I’m in the US with good insurance. I am privileged in that respect. We are dealt the hand we are dealt. I’m sorry that it doesn’t sound like you have more options. If you do, I would seek them. I sincerely hope you find relief.

Hi. I have a similar medical history. Migraines since childhood, JRA since 12, bipolar (now in remission) diagnosed at 21. I’m now 36. I’ve been successful with pharmaceuticals and diet/supplements have been key. Have you explored dietary triggers? I’ve tried a ton of different diets. It sounds like your RA is not being treated properly, pharmaceutically. I’m obviously unaware what country you’re from or what limitations in treatment you might have due to insurance. I recommend looking up Anthony Williams. He sounds wonky, but his protocols have lead to most of my healing. He is plant based. Food/supplements as medicine. It sounds like you are both receiving competent medical care, it can’t hurt to try alternative options. Feel free to DM if you want the cliff notes version of his recommendations.

Fight the rheumy!!!!!! Like my first thing is someone at that office should be helping you no excuse for them to blow you off in a flare. (I get feisty in my flares so I always vote fight a doctor). What kind of pain are you having? Is it more bone pain or like achey tired pains? I use warm packs on my joints, icy hot/ tiger balm type ointments as well. Tons of water, as much as you can stand. Comfort food helps me too, but that’s more about something easy and good to eat. Warm blankets from the dryer too!
