I’ve been struggling with trich ever since I was a child. Anxiety, depression, trauma have played a role in all this and it’s shocking I’m 32 and still struggling. My family isn’t supportive or helpful either so I’m on my own. Any tips on how to fight the urge to pull? To heal? Can hear grow back after years of pulling?

My family is the same. The most successful treatment is replacement behaviors such as fidget toys, try Therapy Shoppe, they have a trichotillomania specific category.

I just looked it up and saw u can write in the search Trichotillomania and all the stuff it shows but also just I wish I knew this website before not just for myself but I’m a teacher assistant/substitute teacher for special needs preschoolers. This website is amazing. Definitely saved it.

Sometimes it depends (about whether it’ll grow back or not) but what helps me is keeping my hands busy like I create stressballs and then contact my play with them because most of the time it’s sensory combined with and obsessive compulsion so find something sensory you like to relieve the feeling on some level and later on that will slowly become you compulsions to wanna do when you’re stressed, etc. I mean I’m talking more on my own experience and everyone is different but this helped me
