Is it just me or does healthcare TikTok fuel all of us to fear healthcare workers? Just saw an IG video from an ER nurse with some pretty unhinged thoughts toward patients. How am I meant to trust these people to fix my body if they get annoyed from the tasks in their job description??

Yeah, some of them seriously scare me. Someone tried to insinuate to me today that when a nurse left my father's blood next to him on his bed when he was having a suspected heart attack, it was because she was annoyed with us. As if that is ever justification for that behavior. He was having a 100% blockage heart attack. His vein had straight up collapsed. You would think someone would understand that that's kind of painful and would put anyone in a bad mood

TikTok is such a toxic place... I just deactivated my account bc of the pure toxicity. Can't handle it on a good day, all I wanted was funny cat videos.

Double majoring because I was tired of bad healthcare workers. Starting as a paramedic but plan on moving to nursing at some point. No one should have to worry about the competency of the people responsible for their health.

I've had several bad experiences with doctors, from general doctors to therapists. Even if they are joking, they're making themselves look incompetent at best, and evil at worst. I don't even use tik tok but the ones I've seen make me not want to see doctors

I've had enough bad experiences with doctors to make me anxious to begin with. The tiktoks I've seen just make things worse. Before, at least I wasn't worried about healthcare workers talking behind my back.

Honestly, the health care system (speaking as an American) is so broken on both sides. It's terrible and I'm sorry.

Idk, I think the internet chalks it up. But I have some horror stories and my fear is very reasonable for the things that’ve done to me.

@Knees i don't think it's as hyperbolic as you think at all. I have had 2 family members die muuuuch younger than they needed to because of incompetence. And here I am with enough horror stories from my own life and others that it's getting pretty unnerving.

doctors are such a nightmare. some of them seem to have absolutely no compassion for other people whatsoever and i really just wonder what they're doing there. being chronically ill/disabled means you have to learn your rights and how to stand up for yourself in the doctor's office, but it shouldn't have to be that way at all 😞 we should just be able to simply get healthcare

@avian I know what you mean. For years, I've had problems with a disease thing in my ears that eats away at the bone in there. Always on a yearly schedule. Nobody would give me any explaination when I'd ask. Age, or just something about me I don't know. Recently I had to fight over the phone with my Docs office to get an earlier date for the same yearly problem. I was afraid that the cholesteatoma would advance faster than they would normally guess again. It's happened before. And they finally set up what'll hopefully be my last surgery!

@GoldenFume i'm so sorry you had to deal with all that, but i hope that this surgery will in fact be your last! i've had doctors tell me i'm fine without ordering any tests or even looking at old test results. i tried to give a neurologist a record of an old mri and he just ignored me completely? like he didn't even say no lol he just ushered me out of his office. i've gotten the "you're too young" excuse before too, it's all so frustrating
