@roseinlandfill Thank you for sharing where you're at. That's such a hard place to be. It sounds like you might need to be your own advocate and biggest supporter for now. I'm glad you have your dog for company, and I'm SO glad you got in touch with a crisis hotline. That's exactly what they're there for. It sounds like this is going to need to be a long game, not a quick one, and for the long outlook, it helps me to take literally one thing at a time, one minute at a time, because any more than that and I get really overwhelmed and feel paralyzed. And you're allowed, by the way, if no one has told you yet, to give yourself "timeouts" or breaks from all the chaos, where you decide to sit for a few minutes and listen to the birds, or take a hot shower, or read something. You matter, and your health matters, and it's okay and totally reasonable to give yourself some attention, especially right now with so much uncertainty. Finally, some therapists are offering telehealth appointments online; your primary care provider may be able to recommend someone who offers online appointments that would work better for your schedule. 💕

Oh, friend, that sounds so overwhelming. What is one thing you could try, even a small thing, to make that really difficult situation easier for yourself? Maybe it's carrying a water bottle with you so you can at least stay hydrated. Maybe it's doing a quick grounding practice (like 5-4-3-2-1 or the 4-7-8 breathing pattern) every time you're in the Uber or whenever you need to use the restroom. Maybe it's picking up a box of protein bars and trying to eat one every couple of hours to maintain a stable blood sugar level. Maybe it's texting or calling a friend and letting them know what's going on and that you're having a rough time. They're small things, I know; and, one or more of them means that you'll be caring for your physical and emotional self so if the PTSD makes an appearance, at the very least you'll be that much steadier. Do you have a therapist or a counselor or a spiritual or religious leader you could call for support? Or trustworthy family in the area? Someone else you could bunk with for a while while your dad is in hospital? Know that you are absolutely not alone. I'll be thinking about you, and your dad, both. 💕
