I’m thinking about asking my dr. about starting meds for my anxiety related to my PTSD, has anyone had any experiences with Zoloft or any other meds?

Zoloft was terrible for me. I’m currently on a cocktail of lamotrigine, cymbalta, concerta, and Ritalin. However, wether or not meds work is really up to genetics, and I’m a complicated case

I’m currently on Zoloft and it has helped me quite a bit. It’s relieved my anxiety and depression enough that I can focus on other treatments more. The biggest side effect I’ve had is waking up in the morning. I’ve always had trouble waking up but now it’s like insane how hard it is to wake myself up (I’ve started having family members call me in the morning to make sure I’m actually up). I don’t think I’ll stay on Zoloft for super long because of this, but I think it’s been a really helpful tool to get me to a place where I can create healthy habits, and once those are more set in stone I will talk to my Dr about going off meds.

Have been on Zoloft for a few years, it works pretty well for me but I keep getting a tolerance to it and need to have my dosage increased so I may need to switch to a new one soon. The only side effect I really have is frequent, vivid dreams, which doesn't work well with my PTSD nightmares 😅 I also have to take it in the morning or else I wake up in the middle of the night and can't sleep.

I’ve tried Zoloft in the past and it just made me really tired. I felt very numb emotionally and often took naps. So unfortunately it didn’t work for me, but maybe it will work for you! I’m always told to give antidepressants at least 2 months, but only if your doctors say so!
although treatment is what’s gonna make the meds help, i’m on zoloft rn and it works p well in helping me along w coping skills, CBT, and ACT
Buspar works the best so far for me. I've been on Wellbutrin (which worked well but I had to stop taking it because it triggered a hypomanic cycle, I am bipolar as well as having PTSD and anxiety), Cymbalta, Hydroxyzine, and now Buspar. But everyone responds differently to treatments, so it may take some testing of different meds/dosages to find what's right for you. Best of luck to you!
I’m on Wellbutrin and cymbalta and it’s helpful (to a degree)
