Need advice on Zoloft dosage

I've been taking 50mg Zoloft for a couple years now, and I'm feeling like it's not enough to get me through periods of bad anxiety. does anyone take anything else with their zoloft, or a higher dose?

Can you help? Connect today

I took Zoloft for seven years. It worked fantastically for years with adjustments, but I reached the top dosage they were willing to prescribe. After many failures in trying to add a booster, I was eventually weaned off Zoloft and placed on Paxil. I was incredibly nervous, as I'm fearful of change, but it was the best thing for me. I haven't felt this good since I was first placed on Zoloft.

do you think I should try increasing my dosage before switching? I'm glad the other medicine is helping you. I tried going above 50mg once but the first week of it on 100mg I couldn't handle I felt pretty awful but I hear the first two weeks is alway bad

I know they have the same function but maybe ask your doctor if you can switch to Lexapro? Your body might have a tolerance to Sertraline, so maybe Escalitopram might work. Just a possibility.

I feel like I was doing decent while on it the last couple years but I don't think it can keep up with my stress levels this month lol. I'll look into that though, thank u

I take 150mg of Zoloft so you have some room to increase your dosage. If 100mg was a big jump, I'd give 75mg a chance. It might just be enough to make a difference for you. I know it's helped me.

thanks 😊 do you notice any side effects from that level dose? I'm quite sensitive and tend to zone out easily, I've been worried about that.

I've taken Zoloft for 7 or 8 years and if I felt like it wasn't working, I just asked for a higher dose. You're very unlikely to develop serotonin syndrome if you're not taking anything else that affects serotonin production. Your doctor can work with you to determine what the next step is for your treatment, if you feel like something needs to change, tell them!

yes, thank you! I have a big issue confronting Dr's and stating my needs 😅 mines always in a hurry so I feel bad mentioning it but I'm gonna try harder my next apt to mention it.

My best advice is to either increase dosage, switch drugs (there are many different antidepressants), or add another drug. I used to be on Zoloft w/ Wellbutrin but now after years of trial and error I'm on Prozac and Wellbutrin which seems to be keeping me pretty level.

I had an awful experience with Zoloft. It increased my depression 10 fold. I had to be hospitalized for 3 weeks while they weaned me off of it and switched me to Lexapro.
