Young and on Disability: Anyone Else?

Is anyone else on disability at a young age? I got approved for my bpd, major depressive disorder and other things. I got approved on my first try at 21 years old. I tried working for years and I just always struggled a lot more working. Since not working I have been doing a lot better. Anyone else?

I was actually just looking into this because I’ve been out of work for almost a year now and my savings has been almost completely depleted. Because of anxiety and panic disorder I physically can’t handle being at work, and all the work from home jobs I applied to didn’t hire me. Do you think I would get accepted even if I’m a student?

it’s a possibility it takes awhile to get approved and if it doesn’t go through you can always try to appeal it! It really depends on how long in your medical records you have been struggling with mental illness. My biggest advice is try to find a counselor and start seeing one and get her to write in your notes “unable to work”. That’s what really got me approved

I got denied. Are you living with parents or family? They denied me because I have to work in order to pay for rent and bills but I am drowning and need a break. I feel like there’s no help

it's harder to get SSDI when you have a job. Bc they look at it from the perspective of if you can work then your disability isn't disabling. Which is so stupid. Bc like you said, you have to pay your bills. You don't have a choice. A lot of it too is based on income and if you have assets like a savings, it can't be more than $2,000 saved in your acct. Which is also very stupid.

I live with family but I pay rent. I was working at the time I got approved. I was doing doordash. Let me say it’s very rare to get approved on your first try. They actually said I was disabled at 18 and gave me a lot of back pay. I would keep trying!
