Working Through Trauma: Tips for Coping with Mental Illness

Maneuvering my way through major depression, complex PTSD, and severe social anxiety. Does anyone have any tips for someone who is working through their trauma and is uncovering how their past has shaped them?

The absolute best thing I’ve done is start reading “The Body Keeps The Score” and doing yoga. Meditation is amazing too, but it takes a lot of work to get to a point where it isn’t distressing. Learning that ptsd is way more physical than mental helped push my healing a LOT. Getting out of my head and back into my body, taking control of my body back, has actually helped with the mental side. Making realizations about my past and how it affected me has been much easier to navigate since I shifted my focus from my mind to my body. Hopefully this is helpful for someone.

Any one else’s family very unsupportive? Mine is. Very frustrating.
