For the past few months I've been making random noises ive heard alot and doing things I can't control or stop. I don't know why or what I can do to stop it. Anyone know why I'm doing this and how I can stop it from happening?

The criteria for tourettes actually isn't that complex if you look up the DSM 5 criteria. I think a lot of people get diagnosed with general motor tics bc of stigma. I have also heard people say that anxiety can make tourettes flare up worse. May be something to look into.

I do the same thing. It's stressed/anxiety induced tics. Tics can also happen if you have Autism or/and ADHD. It usually goes away on it's own but if it doesn't, I'd see a doctor to see if you could get some form of help with the anxiety/stress if that is what's causing them as it means the body is in such a stressful situation that it is about to "break down" example would be fainting, panic attacks constantly, or a seizure.

A few years ago the same thing was happening to me. It mimicked Tourette’s but the doctor called it “stress and anxiety induced tics”. Since there is different criteria for it to be considered touretts syndrome

@Anxiousboarderline Ah okay, thank you for letting me know! I'll look into it! If I may ask though, did it ever go away or was there a way to get rid of them?

@Bunny_Love it went away for the most part, it still happens on occasion if I’m feeling a strong emotion. I tried to hide it in public but when I got home and was alone it would all come out so I’m not sure how to actually deal with it
