September 1999. I’d just started kindergarten! I was hospitalized, and I remember asking the nurse who was showing me how to test my blood sugar, “how long will I need to do this?” She replied, “for the rest of your life.” I thought she was joking, but here I am! Caring for it has changed quite bit since then—I am very grateful for my CGM and Control IQ, haha.

December 12, 2017 … the dietitian I had been working with called me & said, “it’s not Type 2 like we had first thought. The test results came back & you Type 1 diabetes, it’s going to get worse.” 😔
