When I was looking for a therapist, it was important to me that it be a woman (because of my personal experiences in the past), in addition, it was important to me to hear her speech rate, her tone of voice, and her agenda. I wanted to know that on the one hand, she would give me a place to unload and talk but on the other hand, we would still have a dialogue.

That you’re comfortable. If you want a female or male ask them it’s about you feeling comfortable not them. You want someone who is gonna listen and respond. That does tasks with you to help you. You just gotta find the right one and I’m sure you will! Remember it’s what you want! ❤️

Someone who makes you feel comfortable talking to them and gives you what you need from that experience. Don't be afraid to "shop around." You won't hurt their feelings if it's not a good fit. They will understand and want what's best for you. And if they don't, that's not a therapist you want anyways. You can always call an office and ask who would be a good fit generally, that may help initially.
