Night Blindness and Astigmatism: Any Connection?

how many people here with Astigmatism were night blind even before they were diagnosed with Astigmatism? I always struggled with seeing in dark places and night. flashlights/torches and street lights never helped. I am not sure if it is actually from Astigmatism or something else.

thanks so much. I will try to bring it up with them. At least if I don't forget because they are talking about different things. I always had the problem and tried telling my guide leaders because they wondered why I never used flashlights. But they told me to use one anyway even though it does nothing to help. But I thought it was sort of normal because no-one took it seriously.

I guess it depends on what you mean by night blindness. Having a harder time seeing in the dark and being sensitive to light is definitely an astigmatism thing, more specifically lights having rays around them or looking like stars and streaking across your vision. I also deal with visual snow, which is like when your vision is filled with a noise filter/tv static. That also makes it really hard to see in the dark, but that's not related to astigmatism. I hope this helps!

I literally don't see anything at night and the daylight is so bright I can't see much because I have to close my eyes. It doesn't look like stars to me or have rays.
