Struggling with Weight Loss and Mobility

I’m in a medical weight loss program, hoping to get approved for bariatric surgery in 2022. Currently at 403lbs with limited mobility, which is my biggest problem/stress that I’d like support with.

Thanks very much! ❤️ It’s been a hard road for sure, but I’m trying to stay optimistic.

Yep, I’m in the exact same boat there. My bf is always telling me how proud he is of me. But keeps offering me junk food or candy if he’s eating it. I just shoot him a look now and he apologizes. He definitely does mean well, so I mostly just roll my eyes at his selective memory. I do yell when he refers to my “diet” though, cuz that’s a triggering word for me and not what I’m trying to do.

My husband is pretty supportive when it comes the the emotional stuff. However, even though he means well, when I’m sad he gets me food…mostly sweets. Again he means well and he knows I love ice cream…but we’ve talked about that needing to stop immediately.

Do you have a good support system? My boyfriend is really supportive, but he’s much smaller than me, so doesn’t fully understand my struggles.

I’m in North Carolina

It definitely makes sense! I have no problem being plus size, but I would love to stop having to worry about everything. Even just simple stuff like getting a table instead of a booth when out with friends. And I live in Wisconsin, what about you?

I 100% understand that. I just want to be able to do things again without wondering how I’m going to do it. Does that make sense? Can I ask where in the world you are?

I’m worried about the loose skin and I Waldo want to lose enough weight, but also not too much, if that makes sense? I don’t want to be skinny, but I don’t want to be 400lbs either. I was probably happiest last time I was a size 18/20.

I’m going for the gastric bypass. I’m worried that I will be all about it in the beginning and stop doing what I need to down the line. As if the surgery was all for nothing… What about you?

What surgery are you wanting to get? What are you most worried about?

I would love that! I don’t know anyone in the same boat as me, that’s why I was so intrigued when I saw an ad for this app on Facebook.

I completely understand this! I’m 31 and waiting to see the surgeon for the first time. I had a physical today to be cleared by my primary care provider. If you ever want to chat, I am here

I’m thinking I’ll get the gastric sleeve, most likely. I have an appointment in February with a nurse coordinator for my insurance. Hoping I can be scheduled for surgery by summer. I’m only 33, but since Covid, my life has gotten very sedentary and my mobility tanked. I rarely leave my house anymore, because I’m so embarrassed that I can’t walk or stand for long. I just want to get my life back.

I am on the same path! Which surgery are you wanting? I weigh 419 and everything is a struggle.
