Weekend Lethargy: How to Get Out of Bed and Be Productive

on the weekends I sleep all day and have a hard time getting out of bed even if I'm hungry or thirsty. I don't feel like doing anything other than laying in bed on my phone. Does anyone else deal with this and how do you get through it?

There are weekends when I feel I have no mental strength to get out of bed. However, I also allow it to myself sometimes, allowed to rest and unwind sometimes. When I feel like most of my weekends are getting 'lazy' I try to set in advance with friends and family throughout the day, that's how I feel committed to them and it forces me to get out of bed.

I have a HUGE problem with getting myself out of bed. What helps me is having something scheduled in the morning that is time-sensitive or has someone else depending on me. I can get up when I HAVE to, so I plan my days around making myself have to get up.

As well as trying to set up small get-togethers. It doesn’t have to be a huge activity. Tomorrow I invited a friend over to paint rocks! It’s easy to do, low-pressure, you don’t have to be good at it, and it will be memorable! I’ve also started to make a “happy journal”. I carry a little notebook with me everywhere and when I see something that makes me happy, I make sure to note it down. No need to elaborate. For me I write things down like “bumblebees” and that it. It reminds me that the good usually outweighs the bad. :)

Sleep, for me at least, is comforting. Knowing I don’t have to try when I’m asleep. I get to be away from all of my problems and anxieties. I don’t have to try when I’m away from reality. It won’t happen overnight, but try to set small goals each day. For me, I’m making sure to do my makeup each day. I know it boosts my self-esteem. I promise I will do stretches every day. Or making sure I reach out to friends every day in some way. It may seem small, but it’s progress from being in bed for sure! Be patient and realize your progress as you go along. Remember it won’t happen overnight ❤️
