Dealing with Valley Fever and Cocci Pneumonia

I was diagnosed with Valley Fever in 2019 in AZ, took Fluconazole 400mg for 8 months and went in to remission. I relapsed in June 2021 in TX and was diagnosed with Cocci Pneumonia January 2022. I’ve seen my pulmonologist and I’m taking 600 mg. Fluconazole. He had to study to be able to treat me. I have nodules and scarring in both lungs. I see an Infectious Disease Doc on March 31 for the first time. I’m still coughing and have chronic fatigue. What questions should I ask the Infectious Disease Doc ? Should I ask for a biopsy of nodules ? I’ve never been this sick for this long in my life.

Valley fever is no joke! You may want to ask about IV treatment if the pills don’t seem to help. Advocate for yourself and don’t play VF lightly. I’ve lost many patients (I’m an RN) and nearly lost my uncle after I was able to diagnose him! Some scary times. I’ve had to go on IV treatment myself a few times. The cough and fatigue will linger. But will eventually subside.
