Can a UTI cause a PANDAS flare?

Can a UTI cause a PANDAS flare? I assume it does but I'm just wondering. If so, how bad is the flare typically?

Alright so update. The UTI wasn't caused by a bacterial infection so that explains why my PANDAS wasn't flaring super bad. It was more urinary tract irritation than infection lmao.

because any sort of infection will activate the immune system, which could cause a flare up of autoimmune conditions, that seems likely. according to something i read, that might ring extra true for pans/pandas. the severity would depend on the severity of the infection and how severe your own illness is to begin with, and with something like this, any other psychiatric factors would come into play, so that can't be accurately predicted (unfortunately). do you have anything that usually helps mitigate a flare? even though the symptoms are cause by an autoimmune illness, coping strategies for the relevant psychiatric condition are likely to be helpful in dealing with the flare too. and thank you for some interesting info, as someone who had severe scarlatina when i was young, psychiatric illness, and who has unexplained positive ana with inconclusive assay results, it makes me wonder if pandas - or similar - could be relevant for me as well
