BPD is characterized by an unstable mood and unstable relationships (often meaning an unstable relationship with yourself). You can have mood swings that last a few hours each. A lot of dissociation comes from the unstable sense of self/relationship with yourself. You might find yourself frustrated that you can't keep people in your life, or that your mood is unsteady.
