Feeling Cut Off: Undiagnosed Female with Social Struggles

I’m an undiagnosed female. Does anyone else feel cut off from the rest of the world? I had a day where someone who jokes a lot wasn’t joking, but I assumed they were (they are notoriously difficult for me to read and very sarcastic) but they weren’t, and I overstated because I thought they were being literal. Now I feel overexposed and isolated because it seems so obvious now, even if it wasn’t then.

Hello, 30yo M, diagnosed Asperger Syndrome. I have this feeling often, although I've learned some mannerisms and slightly read faces I still miss tonality and sarcasm; It can leave you feeling embarrassed or left out, or you may feel like you've overstepped. A lot of times, we apply an archetype to people and then use that to heuristically react to their interactions with us. Then, when they change it up or have an 'off day', it can be hard to adapt to seeing them differently. Just know that this is okay. Interpersonal relationships are a complex system, but you don't have to get it right all the time. :) It will even out.

i completely relate. it feels like im in a separate bubble or perception from everyone. especially when it matters most to me, like in my relationship. i never come across as i am, or understand what they mean fluently. you’re not alone, and it’s not our fault. 💕sending love n good energy.
