I was wondering if you all had any recommendations for good tv shows to watch while in this healing process? I feel like some shows are just triggering especially ones with nudity or anything overly sexual for me just end up triggering trauma. Some of my favorites are the office, new girl, supernatural, schitts creek, monk, and psych (also loving the new marvel shows). I’m very much someone who rewatches for comfort. Haha let me know if you have ideas on what to watch next! 😊

Who else latched onto King of the Hill because Hank was reliable and baseline integrity.

Fraggle Rock. Funny muppet show that was created with the deeper message of anti-war and pro-environmentalism. Also my fave movie is Labrinyth by Jim Henson also. The line “You have no power over me” at the end made me release my abusers no longer have any power over me. I repeat it to myself when I find myself thinking about it

over the garden wall ftw
some good shows i can think of are adventure time (basically have seen it 100 times), any guy fieri show on food network, amazing world of gumball, derry girls, gilmore girls, icarly (both old and new!), young and hungry, marriage or mortgage (it’s honestly really silly but good to keep your mind off stuff), avatar and of course legend of korra, owl house, she ra, centaur world, steven universe. basically i watch either a lot of animated or reality type sort of show
Watch the Avatar shows! ATLA and LOK
I love Grace & Frankie on Netflix
I would watch cartoons and comedies.
My recommendation: The Good Place. It's funny, gives you things to think about, and tackles real shit with the perfect amount of levity.

Bridgerton!
my favorite show right now is ghosts on paramount plus
Big Bang Theory repeats for me! Lol
If you are good with subtitles, I recommend downloading the Viki app and checking out some Korean dramas. Most of them avoid sex scenes entirely, although that’s changing lately with American influence. The shows I’ve watched on there usually have a lot of cute and wholesome moments of friendship and family.
@Mixtape that sounds really interesting!Definitely sounds like a good choice to check out!
@ValidationSystem oh definitely a great choice 😂
@ValidationSystem ooooohhhhh king of the hill is where it's at for comfort shows I'll tell u hwhat lmao
@Skelliosis last year, my wife needed me to drive her car while she returned a rental. I hadn't driven for several years at that point. I lost sight of her car, and began to panic but started hearing Hank talking. No good happens when a homeowner panics. I know I'm certified crazy, but this still cracks me up.
i was going to recommend New Girl but i see that you already have it on your list!! i don’t know if this is up your alley at all, but lately ive been really into trashy reality TV like Survivor or The Circle, it’s a nice distraction from reality!
@slothtastic36 haha that’s awesome. I call April fools day “prank Sinatra day” now 😂 if you need a good laugh go check out Lamont’s latest Instagram posts. So funny you mention reality tv shows because my therapist told me that watching them might make me feel better about my life 😂😂😂 I told her that’s what I felt when I watched love is blind
@Cece7 *lamorne haha stupid phones.
The original three seasons of Veronica Mars is my ultimate comfort show
@loveshespoke I told my husband this was suggested. He’s been trying to get me to watch that show for forever and I’ve always pushed it off 😂 maybe it’s time to start!
@Cece7 he sounds like a smart man ;P
If you like cartoons, i personally like The Midnight Gospal (netflix), it has beautiful art and just a relaxing vibe and talks about personal growth, it's good for all ages tbh. Bob's Burgers always makes me laugh when i need it the most, and honestly like the baking competition shows are almost always a go-to for background noise while im just journaling or scrolling on my phone
@Skelliosis i like Avatar the Last Airbender, How to Train Your Dragon, Daniel Tiger
@MooieModer that's all some top tier stuff ❤️ i love ATLA and grew up with vch tapes of mr rogers so Daniel Tiger's neighborhood is just so dear in my heart ❤️ sadly tho i only have seen the first How to Train Your Dragon 😭
@Skelliosis Oh my bad, probably not Bob's Burgers bc there's some sexual themes but The Midnight Gospal is just perfect for healing times ❤️
@Skelliosis ill definitely check that out! And no worries about bobs burgers it’s not so much sexual themes as it is more graphic sexual scenes. I actually have enjoyed that show a few times but haven’t seen in a while. Maybe will have to rewatch! And totally need to find a new baking show to watch. I like those in the background too. Especially those competitions. Haha
