I actually just saw my PCP for this issue last week. I’m being sent to and ear, nose, and throat specialist for a possible swallow study. My doc is concerned the smooth muscle dysmotility of my stomach might have spread to my esophagus causing the swallowing problems. He said an ENT would be able to do the appropriate testing.

I have a swollen tonsil that gives me issues, but I think I have issues swallowing on top of that. It feels like sometimes my throats just forgets how to function. It’s quite annoying:/

My problem is lower in the GI tract, but when I eat too much (which in my case is less than an apple), I have problems swallowing too

I have trouble with that; it comes and goes. I had testing done but no conclusive results, but the swallowing problem is persisting!

I have been taking 40 mg Pantaprazole (Protonix) daily. If I don’t take it, swallowing gets worse (for about a year I was concerned about what this does as it eliminates acid which overall is a bad thing as you need acid to breakdown food). Having food stuck in your esophagus is no fun. Hurts badly. I learned my lesson and take Protonix daily. But I still clear my throat daily
