Trapped Gas Woes: Any Tips?

Any tips for trapped gas?! I struggle with this a lot. Especially when traveling or out somewhere (like today) It’s like my body doesn’t work anymore. I roll around on the floor on my stomach to fix it and sometimes not even that nor stomach massages or heating pads work. My doctor gave me Hysacomine or something but it doesn’t do anything…. I’m so frustrated with this aspect of my IBS and feeling like a balloon blown up too much most of the time. SOS

I don't know if this will help, but I had that issue alot growing up, I'd go sit in the bathtub with hot water to ease the tension, then after when I got out I went to a stool or chair and played on my stomach untill I stopped feeling it move in me, then I'd go, but everyones different, try this method if you get the chance

I'm currently dealing with this. Fresh foods learning what the triggers are are hard. I usually make myself go for a walk when I have stuck gas which usually helps it move along

I ended up having to be put on dicyclomine and famotidine for ibs and gerds because I was the same way. I was taking gas x like crazy but it was to the point that I was in so much pain I stayed out of work. It’s a prescription though so you would have to talk to your doctor. It has definitely been a lifesaver though.

I’ve noticed gas pain or not. Gas is always present. Some conditions, will no doubt create more. The intestines can easily become inflamed. Swollen from the inside causing restrictions. The hyo takes care of the spasms. Just maybe there is an anti inflammatory drug that can calm that inflammation? Ibuprofen helps but you can’t take more than 800 per day. Any suggestions? Prednisone helped but it’s something I did on a limited basis.

i take hyocyamine, and i find that it helps more with pain and cramping from bloating than it does for trapped gas. for trapped gas, i take gasx as needed, and i also take the Olly Beat the Bloat supplement daily which seems to help a bit

My doctor told me the best things for my IBS-C are walking, lots of water and fiber.

Are you eating gluten? I used to hate this question but I my GI dxed me with non-celiac gluten sensitivity and had me cut out ALL gluten and so many of my GI symptoms corrected themselves. I'm currently weaning off one med!

hi! Good question, no I’ve been GF for 10 years. Also dairy free. That helped for a while and now I’m a mess no matter what lol. Thankfully don’t have celiac though. Not sure what is going on inside me really

ive used gasx before but i cant promise it works well, for all i know it's placebo. but the idea of gasx is to break up the gas bubbles so they can be released, so it might work?

yeah not sure how much gas x is a placebo for me as well. I took it almost everyday for 2 years until I gave up spending money on it 😅 I should try it again when Im desperate. hope it works for you!!

Surgery seems to be a common denominator From adhesions

Gas pain seems to be a common problem with my ibs too. I tried to break it down to why. Inflammation. Narrowing of the intestines from the outside in. So I find smaller meals and ibuprofen have helped. Soluable fiber in meals. Lots of fluids. 32 oz is hard for me to force down. Should be much more.

yeah I also take ibuprofin idk if it helps but it makes me feel like it does lol. I try not to over eat to avoid the pains but some days there’s just so much inflammation. I also definitely don’t drink enough water because I already feel so bloated, I’m with you there.

yeah walking helps sometimes, looking forward to nicer weather so I can do that more. Thankfully I cook most of my meals and I think that helps. Processed foods are the worst
