My peds card doc worked with me to find an adult doc prior to my last open heart. He made sure I liked him and stayed a bit involved and my new adult doc would consult my peds doc on certain things.

Hey there! I was lucky enough to transfer to the hospital right next door and my ACHD doctor actually worked for both the pediatric and adult hospital so it was a smooth transition. I would definitely talk to your pediatric doctors and see who they suggest following up with - they will know the best choice! I always kept in mind that my pediatric doctor knew everything about kids - not adults, and that’s why we transition into higher levels of care so they can get to know us and get us through adult life! Trust your current doctors in making a choice that works for you. You will get used to your new doctors and they will take very good care of you!
