I'm low on money and newly an adult wanting to transition (FTM) on my own, are there any strategies or loopholes anyone has found to save money?

Planned parenthood and GoodRX but also consider a job somewhere like Starbucks that covers transition healthcare

Depending on where you are, I found that Planned Parenthood was a great help when I was first starting my transition and didn't have insurance yet. I'd give them a try if you can!

@Tobiias I second this! I haven't been able to transition myself, but my nonbinary friend has and they used planned parenthood for their transition stuff. Apparently they're very helpful and a good resource for freshly-turned adults looking to finally be able to be themselves

It's a little hit or miss, but aside from planned parenthood if you have a Starbucks in your area, try to apply to work there- they have great benefits for trans employees, and I'm trying to get a job there right now to use that to my advantage lol. I don't have a job yet but they apparently do a lot to help lower the cost of hormones and stuff so if there's a chance of getting a job then I'd say go for it- that's better than nothing

@Daithi I'd say to look into it thoroughly! I'm a starbucks barista and all I know about it is that it's through the Starbucks insurance and I've heard so-so reviews on it as the sbux insurance plan is very pricey for many and I believe is deducted from paychecks. I'm not positive on this though- maybe ask on the Starbucks reddit, the baristas there are all very kind and knowledgeable!

@Tobiias ahh I'm not an employee and they haven't responded to my app yet so I don't know much about it :') all I've seen is that they're actually nice to us for once

For prescriptions, GoodRX is helpful for lowering the price, it can be a lifesaver especially if you don't have insurance
