Tramadol and Effexor: Anyone have experience?

Has anyone taken tramadol and Effexor? My psychiatrist has been trying to get me on SNRI or mood stabilizer but I typically have bad reactions. Tramadol works great for me but only gives me a few hours of relief to be functional. I was looking up that Effexor is similar (minus mu opioid activity) to tramadol and can help with pain and mood. Wondering if it’d be worth it to try Effexor since my tramadol dose is low to help get pain and mood to a manageable level. Does anyone have experience with this? Or further suggestions? I’ve tried a lot of other meds for anxiety, depression, pain, nerve issues, bipolar/stabilizers with no success.

I took Effexor with Gabapentin and Wellbutrin. I thought the combo was helping but I had to keep going higher and higher with the Gabapentin. I finally got off them all and honestly no different for me… which was disappointing. I was on them for the better part of a year. Also the Effexor was the worst thing I’ve ever come off of in my life and it took me 6 months to come off it. To add I also have slightly different brain chemistry as I have ADHD.

I chalked it up to placebo and thinking it was working. It was probably the dry needling that I was consistently getting that was actually helping the most.

I had the EXACT same thing happen!!! Max out on Effexor and Wellbutrin until having to go through the Effexor brain zaps.

I don't remember if I took Effexor and Tramadol simultaneously. Personally, I had a great deal of benefit when I was on the Effexor, but damn was it hard to come off of. (I had to do it cold turkey - DO NOT recommend) I didn't notice any pain relief, but it helped my mental health symptoms.
