Need advice for TMJ pain relief

Does anyone have advice on how to relieve pain in the jaw from TMJ? Pain killers don't always work

Tmj usually a jaw splint I was given jaw exercises because of underlying conditions, cut back on caffeine, eat softer food, no popcorn, don't chew gum. That's what I suggest from the packet I got for tmj.

I use a heating pad. Yep I put it on my jaw I know it sounds weird but it really helps so much.
