I write things down immediately when i’m told to do something, told of a date, etc. i know i’ll immediately forget otherwise.

I second writing everything down. As far as staying on task, a recent episode of the Hacking Your ADHD podcast had an interesting idea that's been working for me--when you're working and you want to stop and do something else, take a moment to sit and really recognize that feeling, and then go back to work. On the third time you get to actually stop and do that thing. Knowing that I won't just keep pushing actually lets my brain get back to work until the third stop, and I've noticed the time between stops getting longer. I'd say it's definitely worth trying!
