Tips for Losing Weight After Depo Vera Shot

Depo Vera ruined my life. I gained 86 pounds in 2 months. And now I have life threatening issues because of it. Honestly there’s better birth control options.

i’m half white half asian and the depo shot made me gain a lot of weight! i did a diet for a while but it was really hard to maintain and i wasn’t really happy. i talked w my doctor and decided to swap BC. after i swapped to the copper IUD, it took me about 6mo to naturally lose most of the weight i had gained during depo (no diet at this time). after depo and non hormonal copper IUD, i had the nuva ring, then i got my tubes tied. if i had to choose another BC i would probably pick a new IUD with different hormones because my doctor informed me that prolonged use of depo provera (years and years) can cause bone deterioration and osteoporosis. be safe and healthy out there ❤️

Nothing* not boring

I’m am Hispanic and white. I knew there was a chance of weight gain but boring this crazy and it is not helping my mental health with the amount of weight gain.

Can I ask about your ethnicity? The same thing happened to me. I was on the Kyleena IUD for three months and gained 70 lb. I’m African American. I ended up looking at the clinical trials for the IUD and saw that only 4.4% of the trial consisted of African American females. They tell you that the trail recipients don’t gain weight but what they fail to tell you is that 88% of the ethnic percentage is white (for the Kyleena)
