Is there a warning sign that a tic is occurring? I believe I may have started having tics within the past five months. I will get something that feels like a chill down my spine which will cause me to jerk and make a sound. It is more common that it happens at night. Does this sound like a tic or is it a diffrent neurological issues?

That’s exactly how mine go, just shivers down my spine and neck until I do something to get rid of it, mine are so mild I’ve never looked into it I’ve just figured yeah motor tics from my adhd, it’s not like a specific movement I need to do for me it’s just finding which one in the moment like smacking my hands or throwing my neck back is one that happens a lot sometimes I make some kind of squeaking noise completely by accident but never verbal tics like words for me, I tend to not think much about them and just pretend nothing happened lol not address it, if someone looks at me weird I’ll just say it was a tic and move on, sometimes my tics feel internal like I’m moving a muscle in my abdomen no one would ever notice or twitching my leg

Tics usually have a feeling called a premonitory urge before them. Mine feels kinda like static electricity in the back of my neck and spine. It sounds like tics too me, so I'd recommend talking to a neurologist about it.

Yes, there can be a warning sign before a tic occurs, often referred to as a "pre-tic" sensation. Some people describe it as an indescribable sensation along the spine leading up to the tic. Your experience of feeling a chill down your spine followed by a jerk and sound could potentially be a tic, but it's important to consult a professional for a proper evaluation and diagnosis.
