I'm Shauna. I started my Thyroid journey in 2005 when my Mom died of Pancreatic Cancer. she fought hard for almost a year and we thought she had beat the cancer. She got pneumonia and couldn't get chemo and the cancer spread everywhere. Anyway, the stress from losing my Best Friend and Mom triggered the Graves disease and my doctor at the time didn't know anything about the treatment of Graves. I had 2 choices, take a pill that might suppress the thyroid or do Radioactive Iodine. I did the Radioactive Iodine. My throat felt like Burned hamburger. it was very painful. To this day my thyroid numbers are still up and down. So much is unknown about the thyroid and how important it is.
