I get something similar but no idea what it is either. If your girlfriend is on the schizo spectrum or has a lot of unprocessed trauma, some people on the autistic spectrum experience episodes similar to that, even too much stress and anxiety can give an episode of being impaired with hearing/seeing as well..there are just too many possibilities to why that could happen, if it is reoccurring she should definitely seek out professional input and evaluation.

To me it sounds similar to a focal seizure. Here's some resources on it. I'd personally be looking at the occipital lobe. If they're frequent or seem to get worse you should definitely schedule a doctor's appointment as they could be a symptom of a brain tumor. Other times though it can be harmless. Can't hurt to be safe and check though. https://www.epilepsy.org.uk/info/seizures/focal-seizures

I agree, it really could be harmless or serious..always better to know for sure than to wait and it end up being something serious.

During my seizures it's kinda like I'm under water, everything sounds muffled, like the sound is really thick I guess? I also struggle to understand people and my words come out very broken/in the wrong order.

'thick'. That's perfect. I have the same type of seizures sometimes and had no idea how to describe it. I also have the opposite, where my brain no longer "filters out" noise, so I'll be hearing every sound and my brain tries to understand it all rather than just, say, the conversation I'm having.
