Getting Tattoos with EDS: Any Experiences?

Has anyone had issues getting tattoos with EDS? I’m nervous that it won’t go well.

I had several tattoos before I knew I had hEDS and they both barely hurt and healed remarkably quickly. I had one on my shoulder blade, another on my ribs, and plan to get more.

I don’t have any tattoos so take my advice with a grain of salt. I have some ppl irl with EDS and tattoos and they have to keep touching them up more frequently. (Every eight-ish months) It really does depend on your body though. My mast cells would make me sick for so long after that even if I could make up my mind it wouldn’t be worth it and with the chemical exposure of the more frequent touch ups it’s just not safe for me.

I have a ton. Just follow the aftercare instructions. EDS doesn’t typical involve blood disorders so you should be fine. Depending on your type it may be more sore but it will be fine.

I have 6, it just depends on location, artist and yourself. Talk with your artist beforehand to see if they can make any accommodations 💕

I have several tattoos. It just depends on how bad you are with healing. I’m just a slow healer, so it took longer for them to heal than the average person, but other than that I had no issues. Just make sure to keep up with you aftercare and be super diligent. Wash and keep lotioned (I used aquaphor) as directed by your artist.
