I'm curious about this as well. I can't find anyone to realign my coccyx, and it causes daily pain. I've heard that tailbone surgery presents the highest rate of infection at 10% though.
I haven't had mine removed, but I spoke with 2 spine doctors (around 5 years ago) and they highly recommended to not do the surgery. They said that from their experience the patient will have some short term benefits but that in the long run it causes more issues, often resulting in more surgeries and pain. Having said that, I'm still interested in hearing other people's experiences with the surgery itself and/or the conversations they have had with their doctors. Especially more recent experiences as the medical world is constantly evolving. I'm still holding out to hope that a safe, effective solution will be found!
