Switching from Lexapro to Wellbutrin: What's Going On?

I've been gradually tapering off my Lexapro to switch to Wellbutrin and I've been soooo depressed. Like, really really dark, almost worst depression of my life. Am I tapering too fast? Is Wellbutrin just not a fit for me and I should stick to Lexapro? What's going on?? (Per my doctor, I went from 10mg a day, to 5 a day for 2 weeks, then 5 every other day, then 5 every 3 days etc.)

Lexapro is famous for its weird withdrawal symptoms. Personally, it made me angry and physically ill. I'd recommend drinking lots and lots of water during this time, and treat yourself with kindness and care. You got this! Don't be afraid to consult your doc either :-)

I was on it for a pretty long time (about 7 years) so that's probably part of it. I didn't realize how long I'd been on it until I just did the math 😥

it might depend on how long you’ve been on it. i’ve been on it for four years and am having to taper off currently for a sleep study in november. i’m decreasing by 2.5mg a week (i started at 20) and am currently at 15 and feel horrible.

Lexapro for me personally makes me vomit and feel extremely depressed if I just miss ONE day. I think it’s pretty hard on your body/mind to readjust to functioning without it. I’d definitely talk to your doctor about it and ask them why you’re feeling this way. I hope you feel better!!
