Just diagnosed with ADHD, what now?

Just got diagnosed with ADHD within the past month, suspected that I've had it for a few months now... help?😅 I'm so overwhelmed, I'm just starting to find out how much it's actually been effecting me, I know my family has no idea what to do about it or how severe it is. How do I even start to treat it? I also don't want to take any meds, for personal reasons.

ADHD can’t be developed. It’s a neurological disorder that you’re born with. So if you don’t recall always having ADHD, then it could be something else altogether and could be why you’re struggling to manage. I have severe adhd and have known for a couple years, and I still struggle with managing it. Honestly the biggest change for me was taking meds. Idk why you don’t want to, but I grew up very religious, and I was taught that mental health meds were bad. For the longest time, I was super nervous and hesitant about any meds. I finally did some research and decided to take them and I’m glad I did. All that being said, I’m not trying to pressure you into taking meds or anything! You know what’s best for your body. I personally have found the biggest help in managing my symptoms with meds. And I just wanted to tell you my experience because I was once in the same boat :) whatever you choose, best of luck to you on figuring out what works!

I’d be interested to hear more about the symptoms and how it feels. I have severe ADHD too (but it’s been around, untreated for years)
