I've had suspicions about having ADHD/ADD most of my teenage life, asked several people, and talked about my mental amongst friends. They all say around the same thing, that I might have ADHD/ADD, but I have yet to see a psychiatrist. I match up with a lot of the symptoms of ADHD/ADD, but other times I see that I show traits of autism as well. I just don't really know anymore, and it stresses me out at times, even though I am trying to better myself.

Autism and ADHD are related disorders, it's not uncommon to have symptoms of one along with a diagnosis of the other. It's also possible that you have both. You'd have to see a doctor to know for sure. My ADHD diagnosis was put off for several years due to myself having a related disorder (not autism) and my parents attributing my ADHD symptoms to that. For me, my diagnosis changed everything about how I viewed myself and I really embraced it so I do reccomend trying to get a diagnosis, especially if you are unsure, that way you know that specifically is causing what. But that's just my personal opinion.

@Acajou but it might be worth it to get better with your problems

I was diagnosed with ADHD and I likely have autism as well (my counselor and an autistic friend both said it’s very likely), so it could very well be possible that you have both. You can rely on self diagnosis if you feel that is enough, but if you want something official and/or medications I would really recommend going to a doctor for this. I know you said you cannot find the time, but if you feel that this is necessary for your own validation or any other reason then I would really encourage you to try and get an expert opinion.☺️

A handful of symptoms of ADHD and autism overlap, such as sensory issues and some social tendencies. Getting referred, finding a psychiatrist, waiting for an appt, etc. can take a long time so it's best to start the process soon and be patient. I encourage talking to a medical professional about it. A diagnosis can open so many doors and provide closure for yourself. Besides medication, ADHD oriented counseling is super powerful.
