Just had surgery. I'm so glad I've done it. A lot of pain but worth it.

Definitely keep up your pain killers. Even if you feel better, keep taking them until you've finished your course. Also, get some Movicol on hand so if your bowels are struggling, you can take it to help. It was my life saver for both of my two surgeries with all the pain killers I was needing to reduce the pain. Good luck with your recovery!
