Coping with Surgery and Chronic Illness

Does anyone have experience healing/coping after surgery while also suffering from thyroid disease or another chronic autoimmune disease? I just had my appendix removed and want to be on track to heal but suffering from a chronic illness has me thinking I should always be doing more to get better.

Healing will definitely take a bit longer. I haven't had surgery but I do have multiple autoimmune diseases and I am a RN, do I can say that remaining free from infection is the best thing for healing after surgery. Also, listen to your body; if you feel like you are too tired to work through a task, take a rest and then see how you feel. Remember, not everything has to get done at once. Put your health first.
