I may have OCD and I struggle with cheating around my relationship. But instead of him doing it , it’s me. I played virtual games with odd labels I didn’t think it mattered since it’s a game. And he claims it’s not cheating and he’s never been upset but I still worry my intents were wrong. I also had a male friend I talked to a lot I knew him since 2017 before my bf. And he helped me with my choking phobia etc. and I feel bad for talking to him. I can’t go on anymore I’m so terrible :( I’m also homebound agoraphobia and haven’t left the house in a year !

Intrusive thoughts from OCD attack you by suggesting things that actually go against your character. You clearly don't want to cheat, so your intrusive thoughts are telling you that you're cheating. It's like self-torture. The truth is that you're not a cheater and that you feel strongly that it's wrong. Hope that helps!

Emily— it’s helpful to remember that intrusive thoughts are the opposite of what you want and who you are. They are what you are scared to become. If you’ve read Harry Potter, I like to think of them as like boggarts, and they can only really be fought by recognizing how ridiculous and unlike you they are.

I have both, it started out because I almost died when I was younger from choking. Do anything restricting (even a necklace) makes me get high anxiety. It can be food too!

I’ve also worried about cheating on my boyfriend, even though I know I would never do it!

How it sounds fear of choking
I’m sorry you’ve been thru that :(
So you wouldn’t go back and forth in your head if it’s cheating or not you’d just know ?
same exact thing happens to me with the cheating worries. i’ve had to end so many relationships due to it. i guess the thing that helped me the most is, i wouldn’t question if it was cheating or not if it was actually cheating, i’d just know.
