Struggling with Medication: What Should I Do?

Struggling with medication. My doctor started me on duloxetine (Cymbalta) for fibro pain and fatigue, but I also take Adderall XR for ADHD and they interact severely for me. What should I do? I can barely function without Adderall but I can't take it on duloxetine because the side effects are similar to serotonin syndrome. Should I stop duloxetine and go back to just taking Adderall and popping tylenol? (I've reached out to my doctor's office and am waiting to hear the options he recommends as well)

I’d say to stop taking duloxetine. Honestly the effects vary but that medicine did nothing for me and I was on it for 1-2 years. I’d suggest staying on Adderall for ur ADHD for now and maybe try another medicine for ur fibro

I've been on it for 2yrs and increased to 120mg over that time (for depression/anxiety, and recently learned of the fibro/nerve help). I noticed no difference for the depression/anxiety OR the fatigue/nerve pain. (My fatigue/nerve pain actually started to develop while I was on it so it did nothing to help there)

If the Adderall works, don't stop it, there might be other options for your pain

Wait. Your doctor prescribed you Cymbalta while knowing you're on Adderall? Find a new doctor.

wait is this bad? I had a doctor do that for years, I don't see him anymore though. My new doctor is wanting to ween me of Cymbalta, I wonder if that's why

stopping Cymbalta abruptly can give some nasty side effects, but it sound like you are already having them. I would stop taking it and talk to your Dr. nortriptyline has been a savior for me for fibro

duloxetine is the worst experience i’ve ever had. did not help my fibro whatsoever and had the absolute worst side effects (also the withdrawal off of it made me feel like i was dying for 4 weeks straight) 🥲

I was on amitriptyline for my fibro whilst I was on elvanse for my ADHD and that combo worked so well for me that I no longer need to take amitriptyline to manage my pain

I would say stop the Cymbalta and try something else personally, since that's the lesser of two evils. I went on Cymbalta for my fibro pain and OCD and it made me throw up every time I took it so now it's listed as an allergy 🥴
