Hey, I need help. I've struggled with IBS-C all my life, but it's gotten to the point where I'm so backed up that I'm having tons of other physical symptoms. For example, vertigo, lots of it. Bloating in all parts of my body and burning in my gut (not stomach or esophagus). Pain in all four abdominal quadrants. Pain, burning, and bloating after every time I eat. Also whatever I drink usually doesn't go all the way down, it just sits there. I've also had problems with my diaphragm since my constipation has somehow gotten worse. I've gotten light-headed every night pretty bad along with all the physical symptoms that won't go away. I've been crying it's so awful. I've never felt this overall physically bad (besides when I have gallbladder attacks). Does anyone relate? I need advice. I go days without bowel movements and when I do go, it's just small pebbles that are hard to pass. Been that way for YEARS. It's just gotten so much worse.
I put a disolvable laxative in drinks with my meals and take a fiber supplement every night. It's not a miracle cure but it definitely helps reduce the extremes. I also get really severe burning/vertigo/nausea if I eat too much gluten, and found out that i had a gluten intolerance that was flaring up and worsening my existing ibs symptoms. If you haven't already tried cutting out gluten I definitely recommend it.
it might be worth it for you to switch to a plant based or GF diet for a little while. when this happened to me i found eating only fruits / veggies for a while, as well as drinking a ton of water and prune juice, really helped me. its horrible to be so backed up, i know that kind of discomfort. if all else fails, you can get a suppository or enema. or go to the ER! chronic constipation is no joke
you should really see a doctor if you can! what i can recommend over the counter that will hopefully help is milk of mag, meralax (but i doubt that'll help at this point), maybe just a full clean out for multi days? i can send you a picture of the multi day clean outs i do (its like instructions) if that'll help?
im so sorry that your constipation and pain is so bad rn! ive had chronic constipation my whole life and so im here if you wanna message me to rant or anything! also im sure youre doing this but just drink as much water as you can!! i hope you can get some relief soon!!
for a long term solution might be a low fod map diet it could help your ibs-c (since i saw it tagged in this post) but this would only probably help after a good clean out! theres an app for it too that helps track what foods might be triggers or causing your flare ups (its called monash university FODMAP diet).
