Anyone else ✨️know✨️ they have ASD but just don't know how to be diagnosed, or if it's worth it?

i've looked into diagnosis a lot and i wanted to get diagnosed for the longest time but if you're in the US (im not sure abt other places) there's a lot of ways you can be discriminated against if you have an official diagnosis. it can be a matter of validation in which case do what you want to do but also consider your legal safety in connection to it

if you are looking for a diagnosis (or like tests and other information) https://embrace-autism.com/ is founded by an adult autist who was diagnosed in adulthood and understands the struggles of lack of resources and belief for adults trying to find diagnoses

Not 100% sure but I definitely have some signs, and my sister has ASD which makes the likelihood of me having it higher, but I’ve never gotten a professional screening for it. The online ones I’ve done mostly say there’s a likelihood but I know those can be unreliable.

When my daughter was showing signs of aspergers I took her to a counselor who referred her to a psychiatrist. It helped her in school but after that the diagnosis meant nothing. Unless you are in need of medication for anxiety or such there really is no need to get diagnosed as an adult. And even then most doctors will treat the symptoms without a diagnosis.

Yep. I decided not to get a diagnosis because I’ve always wanted to foster kids.
